I'll object to that. The only problem with Australia is that all the interesting places are too far apart ;)

I really like this story. Leave it to Fudge to mess up the demise of Voldemort and prosecute the savior of the Wizarding World! I would like to see Harry and Ginny married and happy in a place where they want to live. Thank you for writing. Please continue! pms

Very fun story so far! Leave it to Fudge to be this much of an idiot!

I do hope that there is more planned of this.
I will admit to some vindictiveness, hoping the Fudge gets some nice pleasant prison time, as well as the warden at the prison, who is obviously in Fudge's employ. That assumes that Fudge survives the public's displeasure on finding out that Harry was made into a criminal and forced to leave the country - forever, as far as they're concerned.
Must you write so well? *laugh*
Mr.Intel replied:
You just may get your vindictive wish. I'm wrapping up the bulk of the next segment now and Fudge doesn't get off scott free ;) I'm a happy-ending kind of guy!

Excellent start to the story.
Thanks for sharing it.

Depressing but true - if Fudge were to get back into power, killing Voldemort would be the simple part for Harry. (Not easy, mind you, but at least it's something for which you can easily tell when you've succeeded.) Politics, and the court of public opinion, are much more tricky.
Fudge's behaviour seems a little unusual - you'd think he'd have better political survival instincts than to do something that gets the public in an uproar - but I can certainly see him getting that obsessed with revenge. (It's not just that he was wrong, it's that Harry publically exposed him as being wrong, which makes it personal.) It's also probably true that with the attitude displayed by the wizarding public in the books, they'd probably forget about Harry if Fudge could manage to keep him out of sight for a few months...
Travel notes: Auckland is a good city to do touristy things in, but not such a great place to stay longer-term. (I don't know which you're planning; I guess it'd depend on how long Harry and Ginny are expecting to be gone.) It's kind of like Los Angeles in that it has the "great sprawling soulless impersonal city" feel; it's more a bunch of sub-districts than a single cohesive city.
Wellington or Christchurch feel smaller and more like a community - they're a lot smaller in population, of course, but that's not the only factor involved. Christchurch also has a strong English influence (for that familiar feeling), and the Wizard (a possible tie to the NZ magical community).
(Disclaimer: These are not unbiased opinions - I live in Wellington. You might also want to look at Paracelsus' fic Restitution: much of it takes place in New Zealand, and he's done a lot of research for the details.)
brad: Yes. Yes, you do keep bringing that up. National pride is all very well, but how about we keep the main focus to the actual story, okay? Trans-Tasman jealousy is going to mean sod all to most US- or UK-based people.
Mr.Intel replied:
Very good information. I've not been to New Zealand (or anywhere outside of North America or Hawaii) so I'm definitely not an expert, but I have done some research. Part Two features the results of that research, though the scene in New Zealand isn't all that big a part of the story, so I didn't have to spend too long at it. ;)
Thank you for taking the time to comment on my story!

What the BLOODY HELL!?!?!?!?
"Too boring"!?!?!?
Not only that, but New Zealand ... *choke* ... "perfect"?? NEW ZEALAND!?!?!
Arrrghh!
I tell you what, if nothing else catches up with Ginny I'll be joining the queue to teach her a geography lesson. Harrumph.
I'm afraid you've displayed a horrible lack of authorial knowledge ... or maybe just good taste ... in your penning of this story. If you care to step down to this hemisphere I'm sure there's any number of non-boring Australians who would be glad to assist you in realising your error.
All in :-)
This story was entertaining but didn't quite make sense to me (and that was before the jibe at Australia at the end). Fudge and the ministry were so stupid, their actions so far-fetched, as to seem farcical. No way would the aurors, the entire Ministry, facilitate Harry's imprisonment right after his vanquishing Voldemort like this. This isn't a comedy though, is it? Although that would explain the selection of New Zealand, hmmm ...
After reading this story I was a bit peeved at Ginny ... after all, she really didn't do anything to help Harry escape, unlike Ron & Hermione. Just a few smirks before his escape. Yet she says that Harry 'needed her' ... what for? Certainly she's bollocks as a Travel Agent ...
(I keep on bringing that up, don't I?)
So, what exciting scenes are you writing for Chapter 2, where we have the newly wedded couple sojourning in ... *choke* ... New Zealand? Harry and Ginny meet some sheep? Climb some mountains (to escape the sheep)?
Mr.Intel replied:
Someplace had to get the raw end of the stick. Having been to none of the listed countries, I had to pick one. Wanting to go to all of them, I chose New Zealand because it's the furthest English-speaking nation from England (that I know of). That, and you get every kind of climate in a very small space. ;)
Perhaps I need to write a story featuring all the wonderful attributes of Australia? :P

Wow!!!
That is all I can say. You have a gift for story telling. Thank you for sharing that gift with the world.

Excellent story, as usual. I look forward to the next installment.
One technical note:He didn’t say a word as they dragged him to Azkaban, placing him ironically in the one that once held his godfather
This sentence is very awkward. Strictly speaking, 'one' is an indefinite pronoun reference, though it's not hard to figure out that you're talking about a cell. An easy fix would be to just replace the word 'one' with 'same cell'. I think you might also need to change the tense of 'held' to 'had held', but that difference is so tiny that I didn't notice it on my first or second reads of the sentence.
That aside, you are hopefully aware that your writing, along with everything else on this site, is better written (technically and artistically) than 99.5% of the fanfiction on the net. Heck, it's better than 99% of everything on the net. Keep it up!

This is a great beginning to a great story. I really like the way Harry escaped. He didn't hurt anyone who didn't try to hurt him first and then he did as little as possible. I'm glad he and Ginny are married and the Molly and Arthur were able to be there. Thanks so much for writing this. Please write more and thanks to Kokopelli also!pms

I love this! You are so right that killing Voldemort would never be the end of Harry's troubles. I can't wait for the next installment and Harry's further adventures. Keep up the good work!

Hmm . . . interesting idea. I think Harry should try to get the idiot removed from the minister's position after his honeymoon.

OK, is Fudge trying to get himself kicked out of office, again?
Interesting, though.
Mr.Intel replied:
Short answer, no. He's become so obsessed with locking Harry up 'for the good of the wizarding world' that he can't see anything else.

I like what you're written so far, It's a great balance between drama and fun, action and fluff, joy and gloom. I'm curious as to what your reasonings for Kingsly are, but I suspect that we'll find out in later installments. I'd also like to see what the public outcry for Harry, if existant, was like. Anyway, thanks for writing. Have fun writing more!

Didn't anyone thought of alerting the rest of the trio about H. escape? And the wedding for that mather?
Like it, but there seems to be something odd about Ginny, but i really can't tell what.. And i thought that your Kinsley was odd as well.. For someone that was in an ilegalm organization, he looks too much by the book..
This sounds like a flame doesn't it? It really isn't, because a really like it, but i usualy notices the things that bothers me first..
H. in the ministry was really fun, you should make me laught at work, you gonna get me in trouble..
See ya.

This was a pleasure to read. Thanks for a nice Mr. Intel story, without slash or smut!
I am glad to find this. And thanks to Kokopelli for helping you with it.

aawww, sweet.
A great story so far, but when are Ron and Hermione going to find out about Harry's escape and his and Ginny's marriage?
Mr.Intel replied:
Patience young grasshopper. The next part will reveal all. ;)
